The Challenge
In the information age, knowledge is power — yet most digital-opportunity content reaches Tanzanians only in English. With roughly 90% of the population using Kiswahili as their primary language, awareness of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR), global business trends, and digital opportunity was concentrated among a narrow, English-fluent few.
The challenge: make 4IR literacy genuinely accessible to young Swahili-speaking leaders, in an autochthonous language, so that understanding could deepen rather than stay surface-level.
Our Approach
PZG PR established #FursaZaKidijitali (FZK) in 2021 — an annual fellowship running one to three months each year. Rather than translating Western curricula wholesale, the programme taught in Kiswahili to impart knowledge in a language learners think and reason in.
Fellows ("Fursa Fellows") were young leaders with an active voice on Twitter, extending each cohort's reach into the wider digital conversation. The classroom of the future was brought to those who had been outside it.
The Results
Over three consecutive years, FZK raised awareness about digital opportunities, global business trends, and the impact of 4IR — reaching young leaders in the language 90% of the country speaks.
Each cohort's outcomes are documented in full in the published reports below.
